    semantic scope
loaded with examples! and I completely agree with your thesis. Her work does contain a large amount of strong, and fascinating word choice, figurative language is also a big part of this book. Nice JOB Dallas.

p.s James spelled "semantic" wrong :)

    Wisdom and ethical Significance
Secret Life of Bees is, overall, a "bildingsroman", or coming-of-age novel. It follows Lily Owens over a summer as she grows, and discovers who she is, where she belongs, and what makes her happy. From the first page, you can sense a message coming through. She learns how to deal with life and appreciate everything, throught the beauty and mysteries of bees. August and her sisters each give a special message to Lily as she grows. August acts as the Mother figure she always dreamed of, May is the free spirit she wishes she could be and June is the logical part of her that struggles a bit with enjoying life. Throughout the book, Lily takes what each sister gives to her and uses it for herself to show how she has matured and grown as a young lady. It makes the reader think about each character and what they represent in Lily's eyes, as well as think about how each sister could apply to their own lives. Overall, this book is a perfect example of sharing wisdom and ethical significance through its cryptical messages in Lily's learning and coming-of-age.

Secret Life of Bees Blog One
Altieri's literary canon requirement "a forceful and complex presentation of moral categories" implicates that the said work houses moral truths that shine through the writing with an intensely apparent and effective point to it all, supported by recurring symbols and themes that are subtly and yet at the same time obviously intertwined and interconnected to each other. This is exhibited to the highest caliber within The Secret Life of Bees. Sue Monk Kidd crafts a very complex presentation of philosophies and values, pertaining to a wide spectrum of complicated subjects that are handled with ease and slowly brought to light to the reader as the author's perspective of all these things is clearly portrayed through the characters and events that play out a sort of drama that is meant to share a general lesson. Although on the surface the story is a simple one about a runaway named Lily who stays in a house with three beekeepers, the actual content delves into subjects that reach out and pull the entire world and life into the limited area of the framework plot. Every day that Lily spends at the home of the Boatwrights brings new discoveries and concepts that are to change her and remain with her along her journey. This is again on the surface individual, but it speaks to all of us in ways that manage to strike a strong chord with our moral selves.

    Tech. Innovation
I agree with you completely Merzi! I find it very different and interesting that Sue Monk Kidd uses a quote at the beginning of every chapter. This is one of the few books that does this and I also find it cool that human and bees are similar in ways. Great job, and I like the quote you used as well, the only thing that I would have done was explain the chapter that followed the quote to show the relationship.

Your blog is a bit vague... I really don't know what you mean by "letters and phone calls" without an example... I haven't noticed the numbers that you have. I may just not be paying attention to details, but also, I've gone through the book so far thinking that the protoganist was 14, rather than 16. Watch grammar, (check tense of "show" in last sentance..) and the shift button... I can tell you can really appreciate writing style.

Technical innovation and wisdom and ethical significance
I like how you used the quotes from the beginning of the chapters as an example. I can't remember another work that we have read that uses that, so it was a good example of wisdom that would help The Secret Life of Bees enter the literary cannon.

    Technical Innovation
I agree that the novel "The Secret Life of Bees" by Sue Monk Kidd displays tremendous technical innovation. The key components were definitely discussed and I thought your word choice was pretty good. However, work on your capitalization and grammar.
